Hi.

I have an old Casio DBX-110, and it has the following problem: when i snap the back panel on, it does not sit flush with the watch case, there’s about 1mm gap between them. I can press it down, but the springs in the module push it back out. I checked the module, it sits properly in the case.

I also have a DB-500 with the same problem.

Any ideas, suggestions about what’s the cause of this, and how could I fix it? I thought about putting small pieces of double-sided tape around the edges of the back panel, but I’m not sure how permanent that would be…

(The photo in the attachment is not mine, but it looks about the same. The only difference being that mine has the gap on all sides, not just the bottom, like on this photo.)

Thanks for any help.

Couple of things

1 Are you certain the module is in correctly and all the buttons are working correctly?
2 have you tried starting with the caseback fully in that end first and closing the other end?
3 Have you removed all gaskets and trying to close?

regards

Hi, thanks for your quick reply!

1 Are you certain the module is in correctly and all the buttons are working correctly?

Yes, the buttons are working and the module seems to be properly in place. I even tried it without the module, just putting the back on the empty case, but it’s still loose.

2 have you tried starting with the caseback fully in that end first and closing the other end?

Yes, I have tried first on the top, then on on the bottom, and vice versa.

3 Have you removed all gaskets and trying to close?

I assume you mean the rubber o-ring? Actually there is none, I’ve bought this watch on ebay recently, there was no rubber seal in it. It’s my other problem actually: it seems to be impossible to find replacement o-rings for these 20+ year old Casios 😊

By the way, this seems to be a common issue, I have two watches (a DBX-110 and a DB-500) with loose backs, and there’s another one (a DB-510) for sale on ebay right now, that has the same problem.
