I hope you don’t mind me asking for a bit of advice ... I have managed to
find a Seiko A127/5010(A3) just like the one I had when I was around 18 😊
It works perfectly after fitting a new battery apart from occasionally the
screen blanks out for a few seconds then starts up again with the wrong time
displayed. I have tried cleaning the contacts with IPA, and the are applying plenty of pressure to the battery but it still happens.
Any ideas ?

Just an update ... last night it stopped and even after removing and reffiting the battery it wouldn’t come back on, although the backlight still worked fine. This morning it started up again showing 12:00:00 on the screen then started running. Wierd ..

Another quick update ... running fine still this evening ..

Still running to time now. Nice bright display. Really strange how it just stops, then starts again all on its own, and yet the back light still works in between. I hope it can be fixed, but am running out of options ...

Now it runs perfectly if ... I don’t wear it ! I mean it runs for days very accurately. However I put it on tonight and it stopped within 10 mins, a blank screen.  I took it off, banged it and nothing .. until I pressed the light button and it started up instantly. I put it back on my wrist and it stopped again within a minute, pressed the light button and it started again !

I then took it apart and sprayed all switches and buttons with IPA and put it back together and it was totally dead. I was just about to smash it to bits but tried taking it apart but re-assembling it without the battery gasket and it is running now, on my wrist ! Thinking about it, the watch never had a battery gasket fitted when I bought it, it was fitted by a watch repairers who said “it’s not the original, but it fits”. Could this be a problem, or the button that beings the light on ?

It ran for a day on my wrist, then stopped for 20 mins and restarted. Anyone want to buy it for spares/repairs ?
