Hello I have recently purchased a lorus digital watch but I can’t get the alarm to work and i’m sure it’s supposed to beep when you cycle through the functions but doesn’t, i’ve popped in a new battery and checked inside and I can see that the alarm spring is there and everything looks o.k. so does anyone know what the problem might be? thanks

Try setting the alarm, and in a quiet place, hold the watch up to your ear. You can sometimes just make out a faint alarm sound if the resonator coil inside is OK. If not, it’s either a duff coil or poor contact somewhere, which may require dismantling of the module.

If you have another piezo speaker or crystal earpiece, you could try connecting that in place of the original piezo element.

Thanks for the reply, since posting the query I have noticed that if I loosen the screws on the back and have the back cover on loosely that the alarm works perfectly but if I put the watch on or tighten the screws again it ceases to function.

I also have a watch that does that, rather infuriatingly! You could try padding out the back with some foam or similar, taking care not to cause excess pressure on the LCD.

Thanks for the great advice I put in some very thin foam and it worked a treat, just gave the watch a clean now it’s good to go
