Here’s the latest addition to my collection. Didnt look great when it arrived and spent some time in the ultrasonic bath. But very happy with the way she came out. An absolute cracker of a Casio!

Very nice too.

So it’s not just me that uses ultrasonic baths to clean them up, then! 😉

I have a cheap and cheerful unit bought from Maplin for ?40, a ‘James Products Limited ULTRA 7000’.

It’s only got a very small cleaning bath, but it’s fine for watches and does quite a thorough job.

You can either use plain warm water, or for better results, add a quantity of an aqueous cleaning solution to it.

The big advantage is, the ultrasonic waves shake loose all the hidden crud, then you just need to rinse it off.

Obviously, you need to take care to ensure a watch is waterproof before subjecting it to a bath - if in doubt, remove the module beforehand!

That’s good advice from Seiko Kid. I learnt the hard way, ruining the screen printing of an early Casio by subjecting it to an ultrasonic bath in boiling water!

I won’t even go on to mention the time I spoiled some of my favourite CDs by using a cheap security etching kit from Woolworths to etch my postcode into the top (label) side of them, only to realise that the sound track is printed into the underside of it - doh!
