One of the watches that I’d been after arrived yesterday, my Casio ALT-6000.
Love it, ever since seeing it in the jewellers back in the 90’s.

Goes very nicely with my green Nato G10 strap.

The ALT-6000 is a great watch. I just picked one up and have been wearing it for the last couple of days to test it out. I love the horseshoe on its side design, very unusual. Yours looks to be in great condition as well. I’ve lost a bit of the paint in the lettering on mine, no major dings though.

Adam,
Yeah it’s very cool.

However, something weird has just happened to mine. I am unable to switch to manual while in altimeter mode even though I’ve pressed ‘adjust’ scrolled to ‘Auto’ and pressed B and D buttons multiple times, it will not switch to manual. Also in the recall screen I can’t ‘clear’ the memory with the adjust button, nothing happens, no beeps or anything.
It is almost as if it has frozen for certain functions.

Also, I’m sure the flashing ‘auto’ wasn’t shown in the time/barometer screen before either.

Any ideas?

Back in 1992 I traveled to Taiwan on business and bought a new ALT-6000. I never used it even once and still have the original owners manual. I had flown ultralights back in the 80’s and thought if I ever would fly again I would use the altimeter function, but I never took up flying again. The watch is absolutely mint, without a single scratch on it, absolutely like new. Back in 1992 I paid $150 for it. I wonder if anyone knows how much it is worth now. I know I could try to sell on Ebay but I am not sure what starting price to put on it.

Trx123,
I paid ?50, or $82.50 as of today, and that was just for the watch i.e. no strap, manual or box. However, it is mint condition otherwise.

I think this watch is not old enough to bring much more than what I paid for it. Casio still makes altimeter watches so I don’t know why anyone would want to pay a premium for this watch. Personally I find it a bit bulky, although the design is quite appealing.
